The Governing Body of The Bewl Federation
With effect from 1 September 2025, the governing body of Ticehurst and Flimwell CE Primary School was formally dissolved and replaced by the Governing Body of The Bewl Federation. The Federation Board is now the accountable body for governance across the schools within the Federation.
The Governing Body of The Bewl Federation operates in accordance with its Instrument of Government, which provides for:
· 1 Executive Headteacher
· 4 Co-opted Governors
· 2 Ex Officio Foundation Governors
· 1 Foundation Governor
· 1 Local Authority Governor
· 2 Parent Governors
· 1 Staff Governor
The Chair of the Federation Board is Miquela Walsh.
The Full Governing Board (FGB) meets three times a year in Terms 2, 4 and 6. In addition, there are two committees, each meeting three times a year in Terms 1, 3 and 5:
· Resources and Staffing Committee (RSC) – Chair: Krystal Patrice
· Quality of Provision Committee (QPC) – Chair: Lindsay Pamphilon
All committee members, including associate members, have full voting rights.
The structure of the Board and its committees enables governors to fulfil their three core strategic functions:
· Ensuring clarity of vision, ethos and strategic direction
· Holding the Executive Headteacher to account for educational performance and staff performance management
· Overseeing the financial performance of the school and ensuring money is well spent
The Quality of Provision Committee (QPC) monitors key areas within the Ofsted framework, including:
· Safeguarding
· Inclusion and SEND
· Curriculum, Teaching and Achievement
· RE and RSE
· Attendance and Behaviour
· Personal Development and Well-being
· Early Years
The Resources and Staffing Committee (RSC) monitors key areas within the Ofsted framework, including:
· Leadership and Headteacher Performance Management
· Finance, Infrastructure and Sustainability
· Pupil Premium and Sports Premium
· Health and Safety and Compliance
· Workforce Development and Well-being
· Stakeholder Partnerships and Marketing
As a voluntary controlled Church of England school, Foundation Governors appointed by the Diocese of Chichester have a specific responsibility to preserve and develop the Christian character of the school.
